Topics on Competition and Regulation

Facultad de Economía
Inicio / Programas / Topics on Competition and Regulation

If markets were perfectly competitive, there would be little need for regulation. However, many industries are dominated by a small number of firms and imperfect competition and other market failures are often the norm. This course uses models from industrial organization to study competition policy and regulation of industry. The course will apply these approaches to study regulation and competition policy in a variety of settings including health care, energy, transportation, and technology. The goals of the course include understanding theoretical models, developing familiarity with empirical methods, and being able to analyze the benefits and costs of government intervention in markets.

Regular students at the University (students who are studying for an undergraduate or graduate degree) will not be able to register through the Educación Continua for this course. In case of registration, the Management will proceed with its return.
