Content

Opportunity-oriented entrepreneurship is defined as startup activity that is innovative, scalable, and sustainable. This type of entrepreneurship requires a different set of skills than those employed by necessity or life-style entrepreneurs. This six-day bootcamp introduces participants to the key skills required to develop new innovation-driven-venture opportunities.

Participants should expect that the bootcamp will be intense, requiring active engagement and rapid assimilation of information.

Professors

Fernando Gómez Baquero

Director of the Runway Startup Postdoc, where he manages a portfolio of startup companies with investments from Cornell Tech and the Jacobs Technion Cornell Institute. Fernando holds a Ph.D. in Nanoscale Science and Engineering from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University at Albany SUNY.  He has worked for over 20 years researching advanced nanomaterials for the semiconductor industry and energy storage applications, on the economic impact of pervasive nanotechnologies, and on technology entrepreneurship. He has also served as Board Director of NY-BEST, one of the largest consortiums of energy storage companies in the world. Dr. Gómez-Baquero has been a founder, co-founder, and early technology lead of a variety of companies in hardware and software. He currently serves as a lead national instructor for NSF’s i-Corps program where he is a mentor for hyper-technical entrepreneurs building companies in diverse fields such as digital health, proptech, clean energy, education, cybersecurity, among many others.

Daniela Ruiz

Founding Management Director of EPIC Lab:  ITAM's Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center. Daniela holds a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University and a PhD from Oklahoma State University. Daniela is also Associate Professor on Enterpreneurial Finance and Entrepreneurship Innovation at ITAM and her main research interests are focused on Finance, Innovation and Business Development. 

Conditions

Eventualmente la Universidad puede verse obligada, por causas de fuerza mayor a cambiar sus profesores o cancelar el programa. En este caso el participante podrá optar por la devolución de su dinero o reinvertirlo en otro curso de Educación Continua que se ofrezca en ese momento, asumiendo la diferencia si la hubiere.

La apertura y desarrollo del programa estará sujeto al número de inscritos. El Departamento/Facultad (Unidad académica que ofrece el curso) de la Universidad de los Andes se reserva el derecho de admisión dependiendo del perfil académico de los aspirantes.
